This Isn’t Just a New XG Single, It’s a Complete Reinvention
On 13 September, XGALX‘s website and every social account simply vanished. No explanation, no warning, just gone. Fans spent a full day speculating. Today, they found out why: XG is releasing new music for the first time in nearly a year, and the label behind them isn’t the same company it was last week.
XG has confirmed their new digital single “DEPENDS“, dropping on 6 November, their first new release since “THE CORE – 核“, the group’s debut full album that hit the Top 100 of the US Billboard 200 and No. 1 on Billboard JAPAN’s Hot Albums chart in January. The announcement lands just a day after XG’s first-ever appearance at Rock In Japan Festival 2026, a full-band performance in Chiba that electrified the crowd, and comes alongside something bigger: XGALX, the label and entertainment brand behind XG, has officially rebranded.
The new tagline says plainly what the blackout was building toward: “Genuine Art Lives. Lives Create Culture“.
XGALX describes the shift as a full reset, moving on from its previous philosophy and rebuilding around a structure centred on artists themselves, with the same key staff who built the label staying on for this next chapter. Every part of the operation, music, management, marketing, is now expanding with a more explicitly global focus.
“DEPENDS” itself picks up that same tension between certainty and doubt. The song follows someone moving forward without having every answer, refusing to force a clean yes or no onto feelings that are still unresolved: “I still don’t know myself” and “I’m still searching”. That uncertainty gets folded into the title itself – “It depends” – a phrase used to hold space for not knowing, rather than pretending to.
The single lands in the middle of a genuinely relentless year. XG became the first Japanese artist ever to perform at Capital’s Summertime Ball in London in June, followed by their first Fuji Rock Festival appearance in July, second-headliner billing at LA’s Head In The Clouds Festival in August, and now Rock In Japan in September. They’re also mid-way through their second world tour, “XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE,” 35 shows across Asia, Europe, Australia and North America, closing out with a four-show finale across two nights each at Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome Osaka in February 2027.
Beyond music, each member has spent the year building serious fashion credentials: JURIA covered SPUR as part of the Dior family, COCONA appeared across ELLE JAPON, MiLK MAGAZINE Hong Kong and Harper’s Bazaar Japan as a GUCCI ambassador, JURIN covered SPUR and Numéro TOKYO, and CHISA landed her first-ever cover with Numéro TOKYO.
Music, live performance, fashion and culture have all become part of XG’s expanding world. Now, with “DEPENDS” and a newly reimagined XGALX behind them, the group enters its next chapter without pretending to have all the answers.
Sometimes, the answer is simply: it depends.
