Ladies of Rizal Switzerland Marks Triple Milestone with Oath-Taking and Fellowship

SWITZERLAND — The Ladies of Rizal Switzerland marked a meaningful triple milestone with a celebration commemorating the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, the 165th Birth Anniversary of Dr. José Rizal, and a special family-friendly fellowship hosted by Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang.

A highlight of the occasion was the solemn oath-taking ceremony welcoming three new members of the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland: Lady Christine Viray, Lady Rose Cubela, and Lady Edda Wyss.

Their induction represented a renewed commitment to preserve and promote the principles and ideals of Dr. José Rizal through civic engagement, cultural awareness, education, humanitarian service, and active participation in the Filipino community.

The oath-taking ceremony was officiated by Lady Michelle Ngo Salangsang, who wore the Medal of Recognition bestowed upon her by Sir Felino Wy Paras, KGCR.

The ceremony was witnessed by distinguished officers of the Ladies of Rizal Switzerland, including Lady Cherryl Trillanes, Lady Lorna Grospietsch-Laurel, Lady Janine Rölli, and Lady Felrich Bonus. Their presence represented the collective support of the entire organization on this momentous occasion and reflected its continuing commitment to strengthening the Rizalian mission in Switzerland.

Adding prestige to the celebration was the presence of esteemed members of the Knights of Rizal: Sir Stephan Urs Breu, KGOR, Area Commander for Switzerland and Poland; Sir Yenz Salangsang, KCR, Chapter Commander of Luzern and Deputy Area Commander for Switzerland and Poland; Sir Nich Viray, KR; and Sir Frank Grospietsch, KR.

Their participation reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the Ladies and the Knights of Rizal in advancing Rizalian values and promoting the life, writings, principles, and vision of Dr. José Rizal across communities and generations.

During the program, participants reflected on the profound meaning of freedom—not only as the foundation of Philippine nationhood, but also as a continuing responsibility to uphold dignity, equality, education, integrity, and service to others.

Presentations highlighted the identity and symbolism of the organization, the sacrifices and contributions of Philippine heroes, and the historic motto of La Liga Filipina, “Unus Instar Omnium,” translated as “One is equal to all.”

The motto served as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity, equality, collective responsibility, and the value of every individual within the community.

The celebration was further enriched by congratulatory and inspirational messages from distinguished leaders and supporters of the Rizalian movement.

Among those who extended their greetings were His Excellency Bernard Faustino La Madrid Dy, Ambassador of the Philippines; Sir Jarie Osia, Consul of the Philippine Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands; Lady Dr. Amalia Rosales, Foundress of Ladies of Rizal Incorporated; and Sir Virgilio Esguerra, KGCR, Member of the Council of Elders, Pro Patria Awardee, and Past Supreme Commander of the Knights of Rizal.

Their messages warmly welcomed the newly inducted Ladies and encouraged all members to remain committed to the values of patriotism, integrity, education, compassion, and selfless service exemplified by Dr. José Rizal.

Beyond the formal ceremonies, the occasion provided an opportunity for members to enjoy a warm and family-friendly fellowship with their families and friends.

The gathering strengthened personal relationships and emphasized that the Rizalian mission is sustained not only through official programs and commemorative activities, but also through friendship, family participation, mutual respect, and a shared sense of community.

The triple celebration served as a powerful reminder that the legacy of Dr. José Rizal remains vibrant among Filipinos and Rizalian communities around the world.

Through education, cultural awareness, fellowship, civic engagement, and humanitarian service, the Ladies and Knights of Rizal continue to promote Philippine heritage and national pride while strengthening the bonds of Filipino communities overseas.

As the celebration concluded, participants departed with renewed inspiration to embody Rizal’s ideals in their daily lives and to help ensure that his vision of an enlightened, united, just, and compassionate society continues to flourish for generations to come.
