Cebu City & Bantayan Island: A Wild, Fun, and Totally Worth-It Adventure with Family and Friends

February 10, 2023, Manila, Philippines -
If you’re craving a trip that combines history, beaches, local flavors, Instagram-worthy views, and action-packed fun — Cebu City and Bantayan Island is the perfect combo. This trip had us laughing, exploring, and making memories that will last a lifetime. Every stop was a hit, and every moment felt like something straight out of a travel reel.
Cebu City: Where Culture Meets Adventure
Our journey started in vibrant Cebu City, where the adventure began with culture and fun blended together. First stop: Magellan’s Cross and the Santo Niño Basilica, where we got a peek into Philippine history and took our first group photos. Just nearby, we explored the Spanish-era Fort San Pedro, climbed its stone walls, and imagined battles and pirate stories — with a little extra drama for fun.
Then it was time to take it up a notch — we headed to the Taoist Temple, nestled high in the hills, where the architecture was incredible and the city views were breathtaking. It felt like a quick escape into another world — peaceful, colorful, and definitely picture-perfect.
But the real jaw-dropper? Temple of Leah. Built like a Roman-inspired palace, it’s one of Cebu’s most iconic spots. We were blown away by the grand pillars, marble statues, and the sweeping views from the top. It’s a must-visit — especially if you love dramatic backdrops for your group shots or couple pics.
Before the day ended, we made our way to 10,000 Roses Café in Cordova — and it was pure magic. The glowing LED roses lit up as the sun went down, giving us a dreamy, romantic vibe (even if we were mostly goofing around). We chilled with coffee and milkshakes by the water as the lights came alive. It was the perfect “pause and appreciate” moment.
Of course, we couldn't miss the legendary Larsian BBQ, where the night turned into a feast fest. Everyone grabbed their favorite skewers — pork, chicken, seafood, Cebu chorizo — and dove into the messiest, tastiest, most satisfying dinner of the trip. Hands down.
Bantayan Island: Island Life with a Dash of Adventure
After all that city energy, it was time to slow down and turn up the island vibes. We caught a ferry to Bantayan Island, and as soon as we stepped off, we knew we’d found paradise. White sand, turquoise waters, coconut trees, and that chill “we’re really here” feeling.
But don’t think we just lounged around — this trip was all about living it up. We went island hopping to Virgin Island, where we snorkeled in crystal-clear water, explored hidden coves, and grilled fresh seafood for lunch right on the beach. There was music, laughter, sunburn, and absolutely zero stress.
We also biked around Santa Fe, found the cutest local cafés, and chased sunsets on the shore. One highlight? A spontaneous jump into Ogtong Cave, a hidden underground pool that gave us the perfect cool-down after a hot day.
Before heading back, we made a peaceful stop at the historic Bantayan Church — one of the oldest in the region. It was a quiet and meaningful way to reflect on everything we’d experienced.
Worth Every Moment
This trip wasn’t just a break — it was an adventure we’ll never forget. From exploring ancient temples to night strolls under glowing roses, from city buzz to island bliss — every day brought something new and exciting.
What made it extra special? Sharing it all with the people we love. Every laugh, every jump into the water, every bite of grilled barbecue — it all hit different when shared with friends and family.
So if you’re looking for a trip that’s fun, unforgettable, and absolutely worth it, Cebu City and Bantayan Island should be at the top of your list. Trust us — you won’t want it to end.
