Concert, Holy Mass to Kick Off EDSA People Power 1 40th Anniversary Celebration
A star-studded concert and a Holy Mass will usher in the festivities marking the 40th anniversary of the historic EDSA People Power 1.
Some of the country’s top artists and musicians will take center stage during the People Power 40 Kick-Off Concert dubbed “Awit at Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon” on February 21 at Quezon Memorial Circle.
Expected to perform in the concert organized by Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) and Kaya Natin! are Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Rivermaya, Ice Seguerra, Ebe Dancel, Pio Balbuena, Morobeats, Elmo and Arkin Magalona, Chelsea Alley, and Over October.
Adding color to the festivities are “Unkabogable Star” Vice Ganda, stand-up comedians Alex Calleja and Red Ollero, as well as Iza Calzado, Bea Binene, and DJ JhaiHo.
Beyond entertainment, the concert aims to reintroduce the spirit of the bloodless and peaceful revolution to the new generation of Filipinos and seeks to rekindle the unity, courage, and conviction that led to the restoration of the country’s democracy in 1986.
The commemoration continues the following day with a Holy Mass and Prayer Rally at the EDSA Shrine at 12 noon, to be presided over by Cardinal Ambo David.
It will be capped by the 40th anniversary celebration spearheaded by Tindig Pilipinas and the Trillion Peso March Movement on Feb. 25 at the People Power Monument.
