Go, Tulfo still lead in new Senate poll

REELECTIONIST Sen. Bong Go and ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo are still leading the latest senatorial preference survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) days after the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte. The SWS survey, conducted from March 15 to 20, showed Go and Tulfo statistically tied for first to second place, with 42 percent of intended votes each. In the previous February 2025 survey, Go ranked a distant second to Tulfo, trailing behind by over 7 percentage points. While Go went up almost 4 percentage points, Tulfo, a candidate of the administration's Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, saw a three-point drop in his latest preference rating. The two front-runners were followed by broadcaster Ben Tulfo and former Senate president Vicente Sotto III, tied in third and fourth place with 34 percent each. Sen. Lito Lapid was in fifth place with 33 percent, while Sen. Bong Revilla was in sixth place with 32 percent. Sen. Pia Cayetano, who is also seeking another term, tied with former senator Panfilo Lacson in 7th to 8th place with 31 percent each. Reelectionist Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa, who faces charges of crimes against humanity before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for his role in the bloody war on drugs, ranked 9th with 30 percent, followed by TV host Willie Revillame in 10th place with 28 percent. Makati Mayor Binay, former senator Manny Pacquiao and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar all tied in 11th to 13th place with 27 percent each. "Except for Lapid, Lito (previously third), candidates in the magic 12 maintained their rankings from February 2025," SWS said. Those who came next after the top 13 candidates were: former senator Kiko Pangilinan in 14th place (24 percent); former senator Bam Aquino in 15th place (21 percent); Sen. Imee Marcos in 16th place (19 percent); actor Philip Salvador in 17th place (18 percent); former interior secretary Benhur Abalos in 18th place (17 percent); former senator Gringo Honasan in 19th place (15 percent); and Sen. Francis Tolentino in 20th place (13 percent). SWS said votes cast for doctor-vlogger Doc Willie Ong (18 percent) and AGRI Partylist Rep. Wilbert Lee (1 percent) were considered stray votes. They were included on the list of candidates used in the survey prior to the withdrawal of their candidacy for senator, the polling firm said. Meanwhile, SWS said 7 percent either refused to answer, were undecided or returned a blank ballot. The survey, commissioned by Stratbase Consultancy, was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,800 registered voters nationwide, with a ±2.31 percent national margin of error. Respondents included 300 from Metro Manila, 900 from Balance Luzon, 300 from the Visayas and 300 from Mindanao. It asked registered voters nationwide whom they would most probably vote for as senator if the elections were held during the survey period. The survey was conducted days after the arrest of former president Duterte and his transfer to The Hague in the Netherlands to face trial before the ICC for crimes against humanity in connection with his bloody war on drugs.
