NHA charter renewal pushed
THREE senators advocated for the renewal of the charter of the National Housing Authority (NHA), which will expire next year. Sens. Imee Marcos, JV Ejercito and Francis Tolentino filed Senate Bill 2818, or the Act Strengthening National Housing Authority by Extending its Corporate Term and Rationalizing its Powers. The measure seeks to strengthen the NHA by increasing its capitalization from P5 billion to P10 billion and extending its corporate term for another 50 years. The NHA's mandate is to provide low-cost housing for the underprivileged. On July 31, 2025, the NHA will reach its 50th Charter Anniversary, ending its corporate life.
