Go, Tulfo, Sotto lead in latest Pulse Asia senatorial poll

SEN. Bong Go on Thursday said he was grateful to those who continue to support and trust him, as he emerged as the top choice for senator in the Pulse Asia February survey. He was followed by Rep. Erwin Tulfo and former Senate president Vicente Sotto III. While gratified by the latest poll, Go said he was saddened by the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte, whom he said he considers a mentor and a father. Duterte was arrested Tuesday and put on a plane to The Hague, where he is expected to face trial for crimes against humanity for the thousands of deaths in his bloody war on drugs. Go said despite Duterte's absence, he would continue working for the poor and the underprivileged. He also committed to continuing to bring government services closer to the people. This includes medical services and programs for poor patients. In the Feb. 20 to 26 Pulso ng Bayan pre-electoral survey, 58.1 percent of respondents said they would vote for Go while 56.6 percent said they would vote for Tulfo. Both had a ranking of 1-2. Pulse Asia said that the other probable winners in the May 2025 election were former Senate president Sotto (49 percent), Sen. Bong Revilla (46.1 percent), Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa (44.3 percent), Willie Revillame (42.3 percent), Ben Tulfo (40.7 percent), former senator Manny Pacquiao (39.9 percent), Sen. Lito Lapid (39.4 percent), Makati Mayor Abby Binay (37.6 percent), Sen. Pia Cayetano (37.5 percent), Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar (36.6 percent) and former senator Panfilo Lacson (35.8 percent). "Most of the probable winners are either former or incumbent lawmakers and are running under the administration's 'Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas,'" Pulse Asia said. The pollster also said that a little over a third of Filipino voters had a complete slate for the 2025 senatorial election. "With about 12 weeks to go before the May 2025 polls, 38 percent of registered voters in the country are naming 12 of their favored senatorial candidates [out of a maximum 12]," Pulse Asia said. "Across geographic areas and socioeconomic groupings, the only majority figures are recorded in the Visayas (54 percent) and Mindanao (60 percent). In the rest of Luzon, only a fifth of voters (20 percent) have a complete senatorial slate," it said. Pulse Asia said that the 38 percent was lower than the January 2025 figure of 50 percent. Also, Pulse Asia said that five party-lists had a statistical chance of winning three seats at the House of Representatives. The five were ACT-CIS, Senior Citizens, Tingog, Uswag Ilonggo and 4Ps. Pulse Asia said that seven party-list groups "would get two seats each if the May 2025 polls were held during the survey period." The seven were Duterte Youth, Ako Bicol, PPP, FPJ Panday Bayanihan, Kalinga, Malasakit@Bayanihan and 1-Rider Party-List. Pulse Asia said the following completed the list of probable party-list winners in the May 2025 elections "with one seat each": 4K, Asenso Pinoy, Ang Probinsyano, Solid North Party, Alona, CIBAC, AGAP, Bayan Muna, 1-Pacman, Akay ni Sol, TUCP, SSS-GSIS Pensyonado, Nanay, Kapuso PM, Gabriela, Akbayan, United Senior Citizens, CWS, Probinsyano Ako, TUPAD, Kabayan, ACT Teachers, BH-Bagong Henerasyon, TGP, ABONO, SAGIP, LPGMA, OFW, LUNAS, Kabataan, Magsasaka, Ako Bisaya, Health Workers and Ahon Mahirap. "Overall, 83 percent of Filipino registered voters have a preferred party-list group for the May 2025 elections," Pulse Asia said.
