FDCP Honors Charo Santos-Concio with Lifetime Achievement Award
Charo Santos-Concio, multi-awarded media executive and actress, was recently honored with a Parangal ng Sining Lifetime Achievement award by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) for her invaluable contributions to the country’s film industry. Charo, former president and CEO of ABS-CBN Corporation, was recognized for being a beacon of excellence, integrity, and innovation and for helping take Filipino storytelling to new heights. In a social post, the FDCP described Charo’s career through the years. “Her remarkable journey—from a celebrated actress to a pioneering producer and transformative media executive—has redefined storytelling and elevated Filipino cinema to new heights. Her legacy continues to inspire and empower generations of filmmakers and audiences, both locally and on the global stage.” The award was presented by ABS-CBN’s Star Magic head, Laurenti Dyogi, who was mentored by Charo in his early years in the industry. Charo joined ABS-CBN in 1987 and eventually became its president and CEO in 2008. The FDCP is the Philippines’ national film council in charge of creating and implementing policies and programs to ensure the economic, cultural, and educational development and growth of the film industry.
