1,200 arrested for poll violations

(UPDATE) A TOTAL of 1,234 civilians have been arrested across the country for election-related violations, according to data from the Philippine National Police's (PNP) Election Monitoring System. The report, covering the period from Jan. 11 to Feb. 27, detailed arrests made under the Commission on Elections' gun ban and other election-related offenses. Aside from civilians, law enforcement personnel and other individuals were also apprehended. Among them were eight members of the PNP, seven personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and 26 security guards. Additionally, six foreigners and nine individuals categorized under "others" were taken into custody. The National Capital Region Police Office recorded the highest number of arrests, with 400. It includes one soldier, two officers from other law enforcement agencies and five foreigners. The PNP has yet to release a breakdown of specific charges filed against the arrested individuals.
