Local absentee voting guidelines issued

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the schedule and guidelines for Local Absentee Voting (LAV) for May's elections. Under the guidelines, government officials and employees, members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), as well as media practitioners, can vote ahead of election day on May 12. Local Absentee Voting will take place on April 28, 29 and 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This ensures that individuals temporarily assigned to perform election duties or cover election-related events are not disenfranchised. Those who want to take advantage of LAV must submit their applications on or before March 7. Government employees, AFP and PNP personnel must file their applications before their heads of offices, supervisors, commanders, or officers next in rank. Media practitioners must submit their applications to the Office of the Regional Election Director in the National Capital Region, the Office of the City Election Officer for highly urbanized cities or independent cities outside NCR, or the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor for areas not covered above.
