Noel files CoC, challenges Sandoval in mayoral race

MALABON City Rep. Josephine Veronique "Jaye" Lacson-Noel filed on Monday her certificate of candidacy (CoC) to challenge incumbent Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, who is seeking a second term in the May 2025 midterm elections. Accompanied by her family — An-Waray Party-list Rep. Florencio Gabriel "Bem" Noel, who earlier submitted his CoC for the city's lone congressional post; their son Councilor Nino Lacson; his two siblings and her parents, Lacson-Noel filed her CoC at the Commission on Elections office at Robinsons Malabon. "We've prepared for this for a long time, we're ready. My decision to run for mayor is backed by long years of listening to the direction my constituents lead me to. The people led me here. I didn't come to this all by myself, the people of Malabon brought me here today," Lacson-Noel said. "My political journey has always been anchored to what the people of Malabon need and demand from a leader," she added. The Malabon lawmaker, who has been credited for authoring bills that were enacted into laws, said that she started with her "Kayang-Kaya ni Misis" program where she listened to the thoughts and aspirations and dreams of the women of Malabon. From there, she said she grew as a politician while laying the legislative grounds of "what social growth, progress and development Malabon deserves." "So now, I'm here. Responding to the wishes of my constituents, responding to the kind of leadership at the local level that the people of Malabon have been asking for," Lacson-Noel said. "My mayoral bid is the actual response to the people's clamor," she said.
