FOUR Philippine islands — Boracay, Palawan, Cebu and the Visayan Islands, and Siargao — made it to Asia's top 10 islands list during the Condé Nast Traveler's 2024 Readers' Choice Awards, the Department of Tourism said. "We are immensely grateful to global travelers who have chosen the Philippines and continue to explore the natural beauty and vibrant culture of our islands," said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco. The Philippines emerged as the Asean country with the most number of islands on the list, confirming its status as Asia's premier island destination. "These accolades reflect not only the unparalleled beauty of our islands but also the rich, diverse experiences they offer, from our confluence of cultural influences to our world-class culinary heritage," Frasco added. The islands that made it to the top 10 list were Koh Samui, Thailand (93.5); Langkawi, Malaysia (92.14); Boracay, Philippines (91.94); Sri Lanka, (91.28); Phú Quõc, Vietnam (91.01); Palawan, Philippines (90.68); Phuket, Thailand (90.44); Cebu and Visayan Islands, Philippines (90.29); Bali, Indonesia (90.15); and Siargao, Philippines (89.2). "We are honored by the global recognition and committed to preserving the natural and cultural treasures of our islands. Together, we can continue to inspire, enrich, and uplift travelers and our communities, securing a sustainable future for Philippine tourism," Frasco said.
