GMA Playlist Drops New Tracks on Love, Betrayal, and Friendship from Kim Perez, Kim de Leon, Mitzi Josh, and John Rex

This September, GMA Playlist delivers a fresh collection of songs that explore the many shades of love, betrayal, and friendship. The lineup includes the official soundtracks for GMA Network’s Ganito Tayo, Kapuso: Masayahin values campaign, as well as powerful ballads from Sparkle artists that promise to tug at the heartstrings of listeners.

Soundtracks for Ganito Tayo, Kapuso: Masayahin

The Ganito Tayo, Kapuso: Masayahin campaign follows the story of children absorbed in online gaming who rediscover the joy of real-world friendships through their parents’ guidance. To capture this message, GMA Playlist produced three tracks:

• “Ikaw Na Lang Ang Kulang” – Performed by Mitzi Josh and composed by Ann Margaret Figueroa, this heartfelt ballad highlights the longing for authentic human connection. According to Mitzi, it’s her first to time to sing an OST for film. “Kumakanta na po ako ng OSTs sa seryes before, but never ang film so first time ko po itong gawin and kung iko-compare ko po itong song na ito from my previous song lalo na po yung latest single ko ‘yung ‘Let Me Down Easy,’ sobrang iba po niya kasi ung ‘Let Me Down Easy’ masakit siya, hugot. And then this song, ‘yung ‘Ikaw Na Lang Ang Kulang,’ is giving good vibes.
• “Basta’t Magkasama Tayo” – A lively collaboration by Kim de Leon, Seb Pajarillo, and Mitzi Josh, composed by Figueroa and Joshua Gapasin, celebrates the fun and fulfillment of friendship.
• “Atin ang Mundo” – Sung by Kim de Leon and Seb Pajarillo, this empowering anthem composed by Figueroa and Kenneth Job Reodica, and mixed by Andrea Rae Culla, inspires listeners to embrace shared experiences that bring joy back into everyday life.

Soulful Ballads from Sparkle Artists

Beyond the campaign tracks, Sparkle talents shine with emotionally charged singles:

• John Rex, The Clash 2023 Grand Winner, lends his powerhouse vocals to “Kahit Wala Nang Tayo” for GMA Afternoon Prime’s Cruz vs. Cruz. Composed by Roxanne E. Fabian and mixed by Harry A. Bernardino, the song portrays the guilt and sorrow of betrayal, echoing the struggles of Neil Ryan Sese’s character, Manuel. During the mediacon, John conveyed the importance of being a storyteller as a singer. “Being a storyteller talaga is not just singing the song, not just performing. Dapat ma-relay talaga ‘yung message sa audience. Siguro, hindi ko naman ilalahat, pero for sure kaming mga nakaupo rito we would like to be one. Kasi mas magiging effective kami in singing kung ganun kami kumanta, magiging storyteller kami, I think ‘yun talaga ang goal in singing. Not just singing the lyrics and performing, it’s more on touching the people’s heart.”
• Kim Perez offers the stirring rock ballad “Huling Hinto”, composed by Rina Mercado and arranged by Fabian. With aching sincerity, the track reflects the painful moment of realizing a relationship has ended, paired with the longing for honesty in goodbye. According to Kim, this song is very much him. “Actually ito ang first ko na single original. Siguro ang difference nito mas in-embody ko ‘yung song, pang mas more on mas dama ko siya. Ako talaga mahilig ako sa mga sad songs kaya natutuwa naman ako, maraming salamat sa GMA Playlist na binigyan nila ako ng chance, pinagkatiwalaan nila ako maging part ng GMA Playlist. So ang difference nito for me, siguro mas ‘ako’ ito. So ‘yung iba pineperform ko yung kanta parang as them, this time pineperform ko siya as Kim itself.”
