Entry-level govt nurses' pay to rise next year

THE monthly salary of entry-level government nurses will increase to P40,208 from P38,413 effective Jan. 1, 2025, Quezon City 4th District Rep. Marvin Rillo said on Sunday. He made his statement ahead of Nurses' Week which the country yearly observes on the last week of October. Entry-level nurses in Department of Health (DoH) hospitals are paid P38,413 monthly, which is 4.9 percent higher than the P36,619 that they received in 2023, Rillo, a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, said. "The P38,413 will further increase to P40,208 effective January 1, 2025; to P42,178 effective January 1, 2026; and to P44,148 effective January 1, 2027," he said. Rillo said the increases resulted from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s Executive Order 64, which updated civilian government personnel's salaries. "The adjustments translate to a cumulative 20.5 percent pay raise over four years," Rillo said. The lawmaker authored House Bill 5276, which sought to raise the pay for entry-level nurses in DoH hospitals to Salary Grade 21.
