The game begins with the dealer distributing 13 cards to themselves and 12 cards to each of the other remaining players. The leftover cards form the draw pile. The dealer initiates play by discarding one card, creating the discard pile. Play, then proceed counterclockwise.

On each turn, a player must either draw from the top of the draw pile or pick up the most recently discarded card. After drawing, the player must discard one card. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are worth 10 points each, Aces are worth 1 point, and number cards are worth their face value. In this scenario, the player with the lowest point total emerges victorious.
