53 OFWs return from Israel – OWWA
THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said 53 overseas Filipino workers, including one infant, have arrived from Israel via Etihad Airways Flight 332 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Thursday. Representatives from OWWA, Department of Migrant Workers and Department of Health have provided the repatriates food, accommodations, transportation and financial assistance upon arrival. Filipinos were being repatriated from Israel and nearby areas amid the Israel-Hamas War resulting from the Oct. 7, 2023 attack conducted by Hamas and several other Palestinian militant groups on the Gaza Envelope of southern Israel. A proposed ceasefire and hostages/prisoners exchange to end the Gaza war agreed to by Israel and Hamas on Jan. 15, 2025, came into effect on Jan. 19, 2025.
