42 party-list groups delisted by poll officials

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday invalidated 42 party-list groups for the 2025 midterm polls, citing failure to meet legal requirements for accreditation. Resolution 11071, promulgated by the Commission en banc, said 11 of the 42 were removed for their failure to participate in the last two preceding elections, while the remaining 31 failed to obtain a seat in the second round of seat allocation for the party-list system in the last two preceding polls. The resolution was pursuant to Section 2 (i), Rule 2 of Resolution 9366, in relation to Section 6 (8) of Republic Act 7941 or the Party-List System Act. The party-list groups that failed to participate in the last two preceding elections include 1-ABAA, Abyan Ilonggo, AKIN, ALON, Amana, Ang PDR, Clase, KGB, Melchora, Nactodap, and PDDS. The 31 that failed to obtain a seat in the second round of seat allocation for the party-list system in the last two preceding polls were 1-CARE, Abeka, Acts-OFW, Amo Bisdak, Akma-PTM, AP Partylist, Anak Pawis, Ang Kabuhayan, ALIF, Anac-IP, Angkla, ABS, Aasensom, Abante Pilipinas, Butil, Kabalikat, May Pag-asa, Koop-Kampi, Ayuda Sandugo, Kontra Brownout Partylist, Marvelous Tayo, 1 Utap Bicol, PTA, PLM, Peace, PRAI, PPP, Buklod Filipino, 1-Ang Edukasyon, Wow Pilipinas, and Yacap. A total of 177 party-list organizations participated in the previous elections. "We don't want to reduce the numbers of party-list groups, but candidates must truly represent the marginalized and under-represented," Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia said. "They think they can get away with it. We carefully scrutinized all those that applied for accreditation," he added.
