Marcos pushes inclusive education

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday thanked teachers for their sacrifices and called for the advancement of inclusive education, timely for the commemoration of National Teachers' Day. "As we celebrate National Teachers' Day, we acknowledge our educators all around the world for imparting the values of excellence and hard work among our students and nurturing them to become the best versions of themselves," Marcos said. "As we face the pressing challenges of our time, I ask everyone to channel our efforts toward advancing inclusive education that facilitates success for all learners and ushers in a better and brighter Bagong Pilipinas for us all," he added. "Our teachers lie at the heart of our educational system, standing as the second parents of our children and molding them into future leaders, changemakers, and nation builders," the President said. Marcos vowed more constructive legislations, policies and reforms for the education sector, citing the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act that mandates additional teaching allowance, personal accident insurance, and special hardship subsidy for teachers. Marcos said the objective is to make Filipino teachers as good as their counterparts abroad. Vice President Sara Duterte released a special message for teachers on World Teachers' Day on Saturday. "We are grateful for the sacrifices you make in shaping the minds of young Filipinos and inspiring them to become responsible citizens," Duterte, a former education secretary, said. "Together, let's make the theme, 'Together4Teachers,' echo across the country. Let every Filipino child reach their full potential," she added. Duterte urged the government and private sector to invest in education and join the fight against learning poverty. with RED MENDOZA
