SEN. Bong Go hopes the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) will fulfill its promise to raise its case rate by 50 percent by November.Go said PhilHealth made the commitment following three Senate hearings he conducted on the matter. The chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography said PhilHealth promised to "fast-track highest case rate adjustment in 12 years."He said it would be the second round of increases in case rates in 2024, following his appeal to ease the financial burden on Filipinos facing out-of-pocket medical expenses amid the discovery of the existence of excess funds in PhilHealth.PhilHealth President Emmanuel Ledesma has admitted to a 12-year delay in updating the case rates."PhilHealth must deliver on its promises to the people whose health they are mandated to protect. First, to increase its case rates, which have been insufficient in covering medical costs," Go said.He said that the health and well-being of Filipinos "should never be compromised due to outdated policies of the government."
