(UPDATE) SEN. Bong Go vowed to continue serving Filipinos as he accepted the endorsement of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) for reelection in next year's polls.
"God willing, I will continue my service if you trust me. Let's continue the government that has courage and cares for every Filipino," he said during the party's National Assembly in Davao City on September 20.
"I will never waste the opportunity to serve you. I will work for the Filipinos. That is what I can offer you: my hard work," Go said.
The party also nominated Sen. Ronald de la Rosa and actor Philip Salvador as their Senate bets in 2025. Sen. Robinhood Padilla, the party's president, was named their campaign manager.
Go emphasized his deep appreciation for the Dutertes and their positive influence on his career in public service. He reaffirmed his principle of "tapang at malasakit" (courage and compassion), which he described as continuing former president Rodrigo Duterte's legacy.
"We want to continue the government with courage and compassion for fellow Filipinos. Thank you very much; I will continue to serve you to the best of my ability," he said.
The senator also called on the Filipino people to choose their leaders well when they go to the polls next year.
Go thanked the Duterte family and PDP officials for their steadfast commitment to public service.
In his speech, the former president praised Go for his unwavering loyalty and service to the country.
The PDP National Assembly marks the start of the party's formal preparations for the 2025 elections.
