Caloocan mayor seeks re-election
(UPDATES) ALONG Malapitan on Wednesday filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) to seek a second term as Caloocan City mayor at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in SM Grand Central. His running mate Vice Mayor Karina Teh also filed her CoC. The mayor's father, District 1 Rep. Oscar Malapitan was also seeking re-election. "I am so overwhelmed with the massive support we get from the 'Batang Kankaloos' (Caloocan Kids). There's no doubt because they feel and see the improvement and development of Caloocan during my first term as mayor," Malapitan said. Malapitan would be challenged in next year's midterm polls by former senator Antonio Trillanes IV. In a Viber message to The Manila Times, Trillanes said he would file his CoC for Caloocan mayor today, Thursday, 10 a.m. at SM Grand Central with his running mate PJ Malonzo, a former three-term city councilor and son of former Caloocan mayor Rey Malonzo, as well as their candidates for the city council.
