THE 91st batch of repatriates from Lebanon came home to the Philippines on Sunday, composed of 75 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
This batch brings the total of Filipino repatriates from war-torn Lebanon to 1,191 OFWs and 52 dependents. They arrived on Sunday at Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
DMW provided financial and livelihood assistance, alongside the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) also provided them with educational vouchers they can use to continue learning new skills.
More than 3,000 people have died in Lebanon since late September, Reuters reported. Israeli airstrikes and widespread detonation of homes destroyed more than 40,000 housing units in the country’s border, it said, citing Lebanon’s state news agency. — Chloe Mari A. Hufana
