Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman on Friday signed a joint circular that seeks to boost the manpower of prosecution offices nationwide.

The Justice Secretary said that the joint circular establishes the minimum baseline for the prosecutorial workforce.

Remulla said he is expecting that this will result in an additional 1,073 prosecutors and 364 prosecution attorneys in prosecution offices throughout the country.

“This additional workforce for the National Prosecution Service (NPS) neatly ties in with the Marcos administration’s ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ reform agenda to shift from usual institutions-based method of justice administration to a sector-based approach,” said Remulla.

“This historic step forward will help revitalize our prosecution offices nationwide so that our prosecutors and personnel can pursue the department’s mandate with renewed vigor as we reaffirm the Marcos administration’s commitment to the rule of law and justice for all,” he added.

For her part, Pangandaman said she was glad to hear that the venture will affect the operations of 246 prosecution offices nationwide.

[We know that many of our people want to attain justice. Many Filipinos are relying on the government for justice that can be trusted, fair, and fast.]

[That’s why the role of the NPS is critical, from our justice secretary to our prosecution staff in various regions. Everyone has an important role in ensuring that all Filipinos can obtain the help of the government, especially in attaining justice.] —VAL, GMA Integrated News
